Khmer New Year 2026

From April 10th to 17th, the residents of the center had the opportunity to visit their families to celebrate the Khmer New Year. Many of them traveled to the provinces for the festivities. For those who couldn't return home, different activities were organized each day so they wouldn't miss out!

For this festival, called "Chol Chnam Thmey," the most important in Cambodia, the entire country comes together. It officially marks the end of the drought and the beginning of the new harvest. Families gather and go to Buddhist temples to pray and sprinkle each other with water for purification. Traditional games are organized in every village, and various ceremonies take place.

At the center, the entire team rallied together, donning festive attire. The courtyard was decorated, a photo booth was set up, and everyone went all out. Several activities, including traditional dances and games, were organized for the women in our care. They also participated in a giant water fight in the street and went into town to enjoy frozen yogurt.

Our team went above and beyond to offer them a quality celebration and everyone had a great time!
